Interesting aircraft

Here are a few pictures of interesting aircraft I have studied a little...

Several pictures of the Taylorbird, designed late seventies by C.G. Taylor (yea...of Taylorcraft, Piper Cub fame...)

Facet Opal...flying wing designed by Scott Winton of Australia

"UltraBat"   An all carbon-fibre unlimited-class aerobatic machine.  Designed and built in Australia.

Exel...a French motorglider.  Nice lines...

Laminar Magic...designed by Alex Strojnik.  Set a speed record for it's weight class...126mph on 25HP.

And what has to be my favorite...the SNARK!  Designed by Bill Barber in New Zealand.  Mid-wing pusher means the pilot has absolutely incredible visibility in all directions, even in turns.  The high mounted tail boom, with centerline mounted propellor means the plane should not dive it's nose when power is applied.  The high mounted elevator would keep it out of propwash, which would keep any pitch change with power to a minimum.  Basically, power would only effect speed and nothing else!  The passenger is mounted slightly above the pilot which would equate to great visibility from either seat.  All around a very sensible design for a sport plane.  The fact that it will cruise close to 130mph on a 80hp Suzuki car engine is just gravy!  The stall of 40mph clean equates to good short field performance as well.  I WANT ONE!

A few pictures...
